On Saturday, August 16, new student orientation was held on Grounds for our BIS Students entering the program this fall. This semester, 20 new students will be joining the Charlottesville cohort, with 12 joining the Hampton Roads cohort, and 24 joining our newest cohort in Northern Virginia.

Several students came with their families and friends on pre-arranged tour buses for a day of activities. Also present were representatives from the two partnering institutions: Tidewater Community College and Northern Virginia Community College.

The students and their guests interacted with BIS faculty members, representatives from BIS service units and student organizations including the Honor Committee and BIS peer mentors. These sessions were followed by a visit to the U.Va. Book Store, and a guided tour of the Rotunda and the lawn. The day concluded with a reception at Pavilion 1.
