Semester Calendar & Tuition


Fall 2008


Notes: Full payment is required at time of registration.
Registrations will NOT be accepted after September 22.
Registration

Monday, August 4 – Friday, September 5; 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

First Day of Classes

Tuesday, August 26

Labor Day (classes in session)

Monday, September 1 (Classes are in Session. Community Scholar office is closed.)

Late Registration

Monday, September 8 – Friday, September 19 (A $25 late registration fee is assessed.)

Last Day to Change Grade Option

Friday, September 19
Signature of instructor is required.

Reading Days (no classes)

Saturday, October 11 – Tuesday, October 14

Last Day To Drop

Wednesday, October 1
(Course is removed from official transcript.)

Last Day to Withdraw

Up to three class sessions prior to the last class meeting, not including exam week. Signature of instructor is required.
(Course remains on official transcript with “W” notation.)

Courses End

Tuesday, December 5 

Exams

Monday, December 10 – Tuesday, December 16 (No exams on Thursday, December 11 or Sunday, December 4.) 

*Reminder – The Community Scholar Program does not offer courses in the summer. For information on Summer Session, please visit http://www.virginia.edu/summer/.

Tuition (2008-2009 rates)

In-state:  $287 per credit hour      Out-of-state:  $1000 per credit hour 

Fees: A $5 per credit hour administrative technology fee will be assessed.  (If you downloaded a registration form prior to May 2, please note this change from $4 to $5 per credit hour.)

Refund Schedule

Before the first day of classes: Full tuition refund; no fees will be returned.

By 4:00 pm on the Friday of the first full week of semester classes: 80% tuition refund; no fees will be returned

By 4:00 pm on the Friday of the second full week of the semester: 70% refund; no fees will be returned.

By 4:00 pm on the Friday of the third full week of the semester: 60% refund; no fees will be returned.                                                                             

No tuition refunds are available after the third week of the semester.
