Alternative Route to Teacher Licensure
A series of graduate-level professional development courses in education is offered to assist individuals in meeting the Professional Studies Requirement for the alternative route to teacher licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Pre-K-6 Licensure
The PreK-6 Licensure Program consists of a sequence of courses designed to enable participants to obtain a Collegiate Professional License under the Alternative Licensure guidelines of the Commonwealth of Virginia 8 VAC 20-21-80 Section B (See July 1998 Virginia License Regulations for School Personnel, page 10). Initial Licensure in Special Education
The Initial Licensure in Special Education is designed to meet the rapidly expanding need for well-trained special education teachers throughout the state. Developed in partnership with The Curry School of Education, the program is designed to prepare those without teaching experience, career changers, persons with provisional licenses, and general education teachers to teach students with learning disabilities.
