Reading and School Administration


For almost 40 years, the University of Virginia Curry School of Education has been offering courses and degree programs for K-12 educators in the Hampton Roads region through the School of Continuing and Professional Studies. 

Educators can enroll in graduate courses in Reading and School Administration leading to an M.Ed., Ed.S. or Endorsement, all without leaving the Hampton Roads region. 

Reading Education

  • Meets the requirements for state endorsement as a K-12 reading specialist

  • Takes approximately 3 years to complete on a part-time basis (two courses during the academic year and two courses during the summer)
  • Opportunities to enroll in online courses

  • Requires minimum of 36 credit hours

School Administration

  • Courses may be taken for professional development or to pursue an advanced degree
  • Courses are offered in the evenings/weekends to accommodate working professionals
  • Students may enroll in up to two courses prior to admission
