The Curriculum

The Program curriculum is designed to provide the pre-requisite science education necessary to apply to medical school, as well as to prepare students to sit for the MCAT.

This full-time program is completed in one year of study, beginning with the summer sessions, followed by courses in the fall and spring semesters. In addition, topical seminars for students to further explore significant medical topics, as well as MCAT preparation seminars are scheduled throughout the year. Opportunities for shadowing, internships, and engaging in volunteer experiences are also built into the program. Pre-med student study groups are formally organized to reinforce classroom and laboratory education

The core Post-Bac Pre-Med curriculum is established as a sequence of science courses and labs that are required for application to medical school. This includes a series of biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, and physics courses, along with their associated labs. Should you have successfully completed one or more of these core courses, an alternative offering may be determined.

Note: About one-third of U.S. medical schools require one or two semesters of math (several specifying Calculus), and approximately two-thirds of U.S. medical schools require one or two English courses. As such, you may wish to review your undergraduate mathematics and English courses in light of specific medical school admission criteria. Should you require additional courses that are not part of this program’s core curriculum or entry requirements, you are advised to take these courses prior to or following the Program.
