About the Academy
The Workforce Development Academy (WDA) provides training to the workforce development community of practitioners who support the re-engineering and re-training of America's workforce, a national priority imperative for economic stability and for continued leadership in a changing global marketplace. Dedicated to the advancement of the workforce development profession, the WDA offers professional development opportunities including:
Participants in the WDA’s programs include:
- college administrators with responsibility for workforce development activities that focus on the emerging and incumbent workforce
- educators and trainers in universities and colleges
- secondary school educators
- human resources professionals
- workforce and economic development practitioners (one-stops, partner agencies, etc.)
- private sector trainers
- proprietary school personnel
- individuals interested in pursuing careers in workforce development.
The Workforce Development Academy began as a collaboration between the University of Virginia and the Virginia Community College System. Sponsors include CVS Pharmacy Inc., Virginia Manufacturers Association, Virginia Economic Developers Association, and Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association.
